“I am an artist who uses local and natural materials to create work that depicts the rugged beauty of the landscape around my home which is a quarrying village in North Wales. I have developed an innovative technique of melting and shaping Welsh slates by firing them to high temperatures in the kiln. The melted slate is displayed with my ceramic work, all painted with a glaze made from natural materials such as the gorse flower and slate.”
